Like it or not, ready or not, Christmas is nearly here. It does not matter if your house is clean, if your gifts are purchased, menus planned, sleeping arrangements made, it will come just the same. I suppose that is the way it has to be and is really for the best. Franz and the girls are down the mountain today. I stayed home in hopes that the UPS truck will arrive. I hate Christmas shopping! I mean I really get ugly. I can not handle the pressure to purchase things simply because I am on a deadline. Without a doubt unnecessary items go into the basket just because it is Christmas. So, Saturday I threw a little tantrum, left all the items on the end of an aisle (don't you hate those people) and decided no, I will not be forced to buy stuff just because it is Christmas. Bah Humbug! Franz will be getting a card that says "after Christmas I will buy you this...".
Here is a poem to cheer me up. I love poetry. This one is from a collection published by the BBC given to me too many years ago by our friends Nick and Annette - the title of the book being "The Nation's Favourite Poems of Celebration".
Ice On the Highway by Thomas Hardy1840 - 1928
Seven buxom women abreast, and arm in arm,
Trudge down the hill, tip-toed,
And breathing warm;
They must perforce trudge thus, to keep upright
On the glassy ice-bound road,
and they must get to market whether or no,
Provisions running low
With the nearing Saturday night,
While the lumbering van wherein they mostly ride
Can nowise go:
Yet loud their laughter as they stagger and slide!
Merry merry Christmas! I don't think he'll mind my lack of shopping - Christ that is.

good for you - I am truly in panic purchae mode. everything has to be even in my mind, I have a problem with fairness. which is bad because life isn't fair. but, you're right to wait and do it later. need to take that advice!
Luke looked at your picture and pointed at Franz and said..."Gumpa" then pointed at Lucy and said...kitty. At least he got that right! He really likes you both especially "fanz" he wants to see his pic again.
We went the 3 present route this year and I know I already LOVE this idea, the only problem was I got too many "family" gifts to make up for it. Next year I'll do better and I'll do it sooner too.
Can't wait to see you all on Thursday!!! We are looking forward to a family filled day!
Love you all.
now I know the kids are on my lap top when I am gone! That above comment was me...Heidi!
Ah, Christmas shopping. It's definitely an adventure, and more than a little stressful. At least it's almost over. See you all soon!
We have been sitting at home waiting for the UPS man since Friday. I am so pissed. The Fedex has not come either -both using the weather as an excuse (the roads have been clear for days. Eloise will not be getting anything for Christmas at this point.
Hi Potters,
I read a little comment by you that you liked my work. I am the photographer from therainydayparade.net. I'm really gald to hear. It's a pleasure to share my work. Just to clarify I have travelled to Cuba but I am Costa Rican/Mexican/Dutch living in Canada. :) Not a joke. I hope you come by to visit again.
Thanks, Andréa
