I have not seen this remake of Brideshead, but the BBC mini-series from 1981 is an EXCELLENT production with Jeremy Irons, Phoebe Nicholls, Claire Bloom, John Gielgud & Laurence Olivier. Well worth the 11 hours one needs to watch it. Let us know what you think of this new film.
Yes, I did see the 1981 when it was shown Sunday nights on Masterpiece Theater. Long time ago! I did a small painting of Castle Howard when we were in England - Amazing place!
I really enjoyed this adaptation. It is beautifully filmed and the acting spot on. They knew they had the reputation of the television series to live up to and as a different form of media - film vrs. TV I think they did very well.
