Congratulations to Lori (mother in law) who was awarded Educator of the Year by the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce - she even received a letter from Diane Finestein! She looked lovely on the evening and really was the star. Her sister Susie and long friend Bevan were also there to celebrate. It was fun to check out all the outfits at the banquet. The chef prepared a wonderful vegan poleta Milanese for me.
Franz and I were also treated to a night in a cute B&B - thanks to the Franke house being over crowded!
The girls had a fun, silly time with Cassie, and Delany - visiting for the week. I bet you have never seen this side of MaCall...
I call this one of Cassie and MaCall "The Eyes Have It".
Here, Elosie gets a good smooch from Cassie. Nice to see they all get along so well.
The drive home was an adventure! I had never seen the grapevine so covered in snow. When we arrived to our mountain we made it half way up, before CHP turned us around insisting all vehicles had to have chains, no exceptions. So, we drove back down to the auto store, bought those chains we have been procrastinating in buying, drove back up the mountain, stopped on the side of the highway, in the dark, a foot of slush, and attempted to put them on. What on earth does it mean soft side in? There is no soft side on tyre chains!
We arrived home fine, but there was no place to park, so Franz had to shovel a spot for the car at the bottom of the drive, and we hiked through the two feet of snow with all our stuff, and Lucy the cat. It felt very good to finally be in our warm beds. The girls have had the past two days off school - for snow, Monday being an inservice day, so it has been a long five days of no school. It is sunny and nice now but another storm is predicted to hit in a day or two.
