Perfect Days

The weather has been so beautiful! The past few days I have eaten my lunch in our sunken patio - perfectly protected from any chilly breezes - the sun warming the gravel and stone walls. From here I survey the pansies in bloom, the grape hyacinths, the soon to open tulips. I have a perfect view of Hamish playing in his run and "new bunny" in her hutch. I watch the blue birds and black cap chickadees in their annual battle over the hole in the hollow tree. Scrub jays are building a nest in our eaves.

My salad of the week is so good - thanks to friend Paula who first made it for me. It consists of the leafy green base (spring mix, spinach, cilantro and parsley), chopped green apple, garbanzo beans, chopped green onion, and walnuts, topped by a drizzle of balsamic vinegar, fresh ground pepper and a smattering of Kosher salt. Yum!

The missionaries came by Tuesday to say good bye - the one in the photo is being transferred. Beau (cool name huh?) is a good kid and has been fun to talk with as he is an avid reader of all sorts of things, watches the same sorts of movies that Franz watches and was thrilled when Franz sent him home with some Gothic publications to read. His companion who is still here seems to produce silly smiles on MaCall's face.

Sounds so tranquil-it's nice to appreciate nature and the good things in life. I also remember being in love with the missionaries :-)
