This photo was found in today's OC Register - taken during the National Anthem at the Race. Eloise, Me, Dylan, Luke and Darin.
Following the running events we made our way to Crystal Cove State Beach.
It was beautiful and not crowded! Here MaCall sports new swim suit with cousins Luke and Delany.
Apparently our kids do not get out enough. You can't take them anywhere!
FYI Woody's Diner has a great veggie burger!
All in all it was a lovely weekend. Saturday we enjoyed the many yard sales on the mountain. Franz found a great set of golf clubs -complete with glove - for only $10! Eloise found a skate board for a school project - a float of NY for a class state parade - I found tomato cages for my growing tomato plants. No cool bench or iron chair for my yard though...
MaCall had a day out on Saturday with her quartet friends - practiced for a wedding gig coming up, went down to Old Navy to get $1 flip flops (sold out), hiked down to a creek and swam, then went bowling.
Sunday Franz gave another masterful lesson in Gospel Doctrine. We walked at the lake somewhere in there....
Sunday night we drove down to Laguna Hills - found a nice hotel room - cheap on Hotwire. That way we were ready to go early Monday morning to register for the race.
All in all it was a fun day and being at the race, with the flags, National Anthem sung - it felt appropriate for Memorial Day. We were also right near Leisure World - new name now - which had me thinking of Grandma and George.
Hope you all had good weekends. Now we are back to school. Tomorrow Eloise is off on a school trip to Yosemite. We will miss her. She is so much fun to have around - most of the time.

such a fun day! I think we should make it a tradition! Well, maybe just the 5k and beach part not so much the 1/2 marathon part!!!
Aw, look at that ocean! It looks like you guys had so much fun.
How fun! Good for Franz running a marathon!
I agree Heidi...let's make it a tradition. Next year Eloise, MaCall, Serena and I are running the 5k.
Good work on your run, Franz! Sounds like you're thinking of taking up golf, which is a calmer version of the 5K...good luck with that.
Good to hear your long weekend was a success; you crammed in a lot over those 3 days and everyone seems happy. Summer's off to a good start!
