Earlier this year a friend of mine passed away. Her son sent this picture in his Christmas letter. Joan Shreeve and I were visiting teachers in England. She and I had three other elderly ladies we visited - all house bound for the most part. Joan had a wonderful garden - as you can see- and gave us beautiful flowering bulbs for Christmas. She and the other ladies shared their stories of Norfolk during WWII. It was very facinating. There is so much to learn from those who have been around longer than we have. Joan and I kept in touch by letter after we moved and later the girls and I visited her in a nursing home last time we were in Norwich. She is missed.

I think the elderly have the most fascinating things to talk about. I never tired of Darin's Grandma's childhood stories. Well maybe the one's where she talked about how the younguns were in charge of killing the chickens and such while we were eating dinner.
Dear Serena,
thank you so much for this lovely tribute to my mum!
Bless you
Paul
