Iced over satellite dish

Okay, this is not our roof, but might as well be. Franz and MaCall are out on the porch - she is on his shoulders and they are trying to get the ice off the satellite dish with a wood spatula. Anyone have a better method? Yep, finnally the torrential rain, wind and hail has turned to snow. It is very pretty. No school tomorrow. First day back and it turns out to be a snow day. That works out well for Eloise, who has been home sick today. She has a penchant for becoming ill the last day of vacation.

is your tv out because of the ice? Bummer. Hope Eloise gets better soon. Snow day--you predicted it didn't you. Too funny.

Snow must be luvely! Douglas and I have been sitting in the living room reading to the sound of the rain. The kids are all asleep and we are enjoying the peace!

Try a blow torch. Heat up the dish a little from the back and the ice should slide off.

Just be careful not to set your house on fire.

Oh I think you can buy a heating attachment for the dish to keep the ice off.

How about a heat gun? I read that windsheild washer fluid works...Sun is out now.

Got the Dish Network or DirecTV? Having problems with snow or ice hindering your reception? Snow can really be a problem if you have a Tivo DVR for your dish and when it goes to record shows while you are not there, the single is down due to snow or ice.

A very simple and inexpensive solution to keep snow and ice buildup off your satellite dish is to put a garbage bag over it and pull it taut so that it does not sag. It is easy to use duct tape to seal the bag to the back of the dish. The snow and ice should fall off the bag and give you clear reception.

If it should happen to start building up on the bag, spray the bag with cooking spray such as PAM.

Additionally, you can purchase dish heaters and approved dish covers that will also protect you reception.

Great advice Craig! Thanks. Hope you are doing well. We are fine...cold, wet, snowy, but fine.

Hi ,
Your work on the blog is fantastic. I’m influenced in a positive way.

Specifically, I got some nice information in this page http://potterparaphernalia.blogspot.com/2008/01/iced-over-satellite-dish.html

If you are interested, I would like to exchange links by placing a content link in your website. Don’t you think it would be nice for both our sites?

I’m waiting for your response.
