DIY Surprise

I have finally attempted my first DIY project indoors since we moved here. Initially I painted the house and that really did me in. I have confined myself to working outdoors where I can't really screw things up. As a result, things outside are really coming together....so much so that I finally got enough courage to turn my attention to the house. Now, both bedrooms of our cozy cottage have shag carpet...nice shag carpet, newish even, but shag nevertheless. Carpet, clearly is not good for allergies so we needed a change. We have always wanted wood flooring, but I dreaded putting it in. Well, excuses aside, I finally moved all the furniture from the girls room and decided now is the time.

Two days later, an argument and two trips to Ikea, I finally finished the room. Good huh? I think so....perhaps I will do the hall and our bedroom next....someday.

Looks great Franz! What did you go with for the flooring? I wish we have Ikea here. Actually, it's probably good we don't...

Yes, it looks good. We painted the book shelf and rearranged the furniture. It is amazing how much lighter the room is. I did not realise how much the carpet sucked up the light. The new floor reflects it, making the room seem larger and brighter. Now, if we could only afford to do our room, the hall way, slate in the main room and kitchen, little retro octagon tile and subway tile in the bathroom...

Great job on the floor! We did our floor in wood about a year and a half ago.... we love it, but it was such a pain in the butt! Of course, since then we've only seen all the other things that need to be done, too. Do yourself and your bank account a favor and take it easy...one room at a time.
