First Day of School and all is well

Today is the big day, the first day of High School for MaCall! She actually had a good day. It turns out her friend Savannah (top) has the exact schedule so they were able to find their way around together. She also has other friends from the ward (like Alexis, above), and her quartet friends who are in her classes. Because she is in so many honors or advanced classes she also has friend's older siblings in some of her classes. So all in all, she was surrounded by people she knows and it went well. Her only concern seems to be the new Orchestra Class, where the teacher spent the entire time talking about Band and indicated that they would start with twinkles. Not good. I told her to stick it out for a week or two because she may be glad to have a no brainer class with all of her tougher classes.

Eloise started 5th Grade today! She is in a 5th/6th combined class. This will be our first experience with such a class. MaCall would have been in one had we stayed in New Hampshire. Her teacher kept telling them they are the smartest kids in the school, so at least they didn't put in the smart 5th graders and the dumb 6th graders! She liked her teacher, Mr. Soderhome, the class is Soderville. She had been worried about not having any friends in her class, but I'm sure she will make some and can still see her other friends at lunch and recess.

So, I have to plan two assemblies on Edward Hopper. Help! I've never done anything like this. Should I have the kids hop up and down every time I say Hopper? Our Principal is Mrs. Hopper. Should I make her hop? I have to put together a power point of his work, talk about his life etc. teach his main style points. I will have the younger kids in one and the older kids in the other, so can adapt. His nick name was Grasshopper because he was so tall. So more hoppers...

Wow. We still have another week of freedom to go. I hope the grown up Potters are enjoying some daily quiet time! Good luck girls.

Good luck girls!! You look beautiful as always! Hope the Orchestra turns out ok, if not, can you join one of Pavel's?

No the University of Redlands has a no child on campus under 16 in the evening rule now - for insurance reasons. Pavel was upset about it.
