Right before the summer break I was asked to help give an assembly on Edward Hopper. I don't recall saying yes, just they "oh, you will do great, we'll contact you at the end of summer to give you the information..blah blah". So summer over, school starts up and I find I am giving two school assemblies on the artist Edward Hopper. ACK! Kids scare me. Especially large groups of them. Well, today was the day and I survived. My PowerPoint was good. I knew all the information I needed and another mom played a clown (no clowning around) to keep the kinds in line. It worked and I'm pretty sure that if you ask these kids about Edward Hopper they can tell you exactly what to look for in his paintings. The most notable point of interest was that Hopper was six feet five inches at twelve years old! I had the tallest sixth graders come up and stand next to a life size drawing so they could see just how big that was.

For years I have been waiting for
Charley's Aunt to come out on DVD. My mother told me about it ages ago as one of her favorite comedies. Finally it is out! I rented it from Netflix and watched it while lying on the couch recuperating from the assemblies. It is very funny. Jack Benny is great and I love Kay Francis. I still say
The More the Merrier is my all time favorite, but this one is an old movie worth watching.

Congrats, Serena, on a successful presentation, especially given your last couple weeks. A good film is a satisfying reward for a job well done. Hope you begin to feel better as fall progresses. We are thinking of you.
Well done Serena - they can be really scary can't they?
