Back to School

Well it appears that summer is indeed over and the girls are making their way back to school and grudgingly I might add. Eloise moved schools yet again and is now attending 4th grade at Grandview Elementary School in Twin Peaks. Fortunately her best friend Julia also transferred schools and is in the same class. This year should be a good one for Eloise...not only will she be continuing Ballet, but she is participating in an Acting and Singing program after school put on by Disney channel scouts which thrills her to no end, and her parents, well we will support her and hope these programs will enrich her life and make her a well rounded, liberal minded, humanist she has already indicated she is... Anyhow, the picture below was taken on the first day. PTA is over the top at this school evident in the red carpet first day complete with Wizard of Oz characters...whatever!

MaCall began 8th grade at MPH and to our relief actually had an 'okay' time which translates into 'I had a good time, not great, but good!' She is more comfortable this year at what she and others call the military prison house and has finally been placed back in the honors classes. MPH does not have honors in 7th grade unlike her old Jr. High which she excelled in and loved, so her parents are happy that she will finally be challenged. MaCall, like Eloise, should have a good year. She continues taking violin lessons from Professor Farkas at the University of Redlands and will be joining the University Orchestra which should be great fun. These pictures were taken when MaCall was walking to the car after the first day of school...she would not allow us to actually photograph her in front of her school, quite understandably! Unfortunately, I did notice the young man in the jeep clearly watching my little girl. Highly disturbing!

As for Serena and myself, we are now enjoying a peaceful house during the day...one where I can grade papers and Serena can recover from the summer activities. Notwithstanding our joy at our kid's successful return to school, I have to say that I do miss them when they are gone.

I can't believe how grown up MaCall looks. Aren't quiet days nice though? It makes me be a better parent by 2:00.

I have to say I am happy we are still in the I love school phase with Grace. No grudges here! And your girls are so darling, I'm sure that wasn't the only boy looking their direction - good luck.

What is up with the red carpet and Wizard of Oz characters? That's weird. They are getting so old, I can't believe it. Good luck with the new school year!
