Eloise's adventure

Yesterday Eloise had to be at school at 6.45 am, she boarded a yellow bus and headed down the mountain to Dana Point - on the coast. The 4th grade had a day of adventure on a tall ship, where they learned to hoist the sails, navigate, steer the ship, sleeping quarters, basically life on board a tall ship. Eloise though became very sea sick and threw up over the side - thus having a true experience. After three hours on the ship they went to San Juan Capistrano where they had a historical tour, going back to the days of the Spanish Soldiers, native Americans and life in a mission around 1780. The adventure did not end there, on their way back home as the bus we driving up the 18 to the top of our mountain, a Honda Accord lost control and ran into the bus. The kids were all fine, the bus had a dent, but this prolonged our wait to pick up the kids, who had to wait for CHP to make out reports, paramedics to make sure everyone was fine. By the time the bus rolled into the Grandview parking lot around 8.00 pm there were tears over unmet bathroom needs - not Eloise though - thank goodness she went before they left. Mrs. Bott looked a bit frazzled. I'm so glad I was not sitting on that bus with a bunch of tired, hungry, needing to go to the bathroom 4th graders!

That's a field trip she won't soon forget! I'm glad everyone is okay. That 18 sounds like one dangerous stretch of road!

Lucky Eloise, that sounds like an awesome field trip! I'd love to go sailing like that. Glad she didn't have a bathroom crisis.
