Helga and I went down the mountain in the afternoon to pick up paintings - no sales. But looking at some left over work on the walls was inspirational.
Yesterday Doug and Michele came over for cheddar chowder and crusty bread. Saturday was stormy and cold, even down to 37 at night. Yesterday was clear and 70's. We moved the table outside and ate on the patio. It was really nice and that way the kids could play outside. The highlight was when one year old Mason put one of Hamish's poops in his mouth. He seemed perfectly fine to have it there but his mother was freaking out. Go figure.
Today I watched Failure to Launch, not brilliant, but entertaining, while I dusted and put up some Halloween decorations. At our house it must be Halloween all month. Franz bought a skull cookie jar, skull garland and skull lights. I put my foot down to his bringing home anything else with skulls. When this is all over a few will be going to his office. The cookie jar looks a bit more like an alien. Ick.

I'm with Franz on all Halloween, all month. It's one of the best holidays of the year. If I had the money, my apartment would look like something out of Martha Stewart. :)
Working always makes me feel a bit better, too. Weird, isn't it?
That soup looked so good. I am so hungry right now!! The yard looks great. Congrats on all the cleaning. It always feels good when it's done!
the pics look great! I do love Halloween too--maybe not as much as Franz, but I do enjoy the month.
Halloween is Elliotts favorite as well.
Oh and Franz, when are you going to split logs in the wood pile? Before or after the snow?
Some are already split, I will get to others soon and the newer logs will age for a year.
Hey we are having a Halloween party on the 25th and you are invited!
I can't believe you did all that while you weren't feeling well, wow! Mike LOVES halloween and we are getting out our decorations today. I would freak about rabbit poop too...just imagine what our kids eat when we're not looking! (Sven ate what we think was a Zyrtec pill, when he was a year old. We'll never know for sure!)
Pity you're such a long way away, we'd love to come - even though pumpkin pie is not a favourite!
PS - garden looks good - one day ours will be finished too!
No pumpkin pie for Halloween, you have to wait for Thanksgivng for that. Now, pumpkin cookies with chocolate chips are perfect for Halloween. Yum!
I really miss you guys!!
Actually, Serena, pumpkin "anything" is acceptable YEAR ROUND, but it certainly should be more lavish during the autumn; I have started out this season with pumpkin ice cream (Sebastian Joe's, Mpls, is the best) and intend to explore all varieties of pumpkin-based goodies. Pumpkin pie would be a most fitting Halloween treat and a good training start for Thanksgiving.
Okay Clancy. I'll keep that in mind. The ice cream sounds good!
Autumn time in the mountains- looks beautiful! Are you able to see the Hunters often? Nice to have family close by. We can't wait to all be together for Thanksgiving!
